Armlock From Guard Against Choke (Defensive Variation)
BG gets frustrated from trying to punch you and tries to choke you with his hands around your neck. Grab a wrist, scoop the opposite leg, and armlock. Try to take him over, sit up and adjust your hips and finish. If he doesn’t fall, finish from the guard.
Armlock From High Guard (Offensive Variation)
This is the high percentage two-step approach.
- 1Walk Into The High Guard (Step, bite, and lock)
a. From stage 1, get a collar tie and wrist control.
b. Foot on the hip, step… (inner thigh presses his elbow to your centerline here)
c. Spin 90 degrees and bite the back with the calf while pushing his head away, Swing the leg over the shoulder to lock the HIGH GUARD. - 2Swing Cross-Face Leg Over
a. From the high guard, swing the cross-face leg over in as small of an arc as possible
b. Lift hips high and get the crook of the knee over his head
c. Two ways to finish here:
i. Finish from back: (Armlocks always work best when BG is on his back.) Anchor & dump him north, over on his back, before you finish.
ii. Finish from guard
Jiu Jitsu Drill: Punch block series 1-2-3-4-1, hit the armlock (both variations). Add in an occasional arm pull out to triangle.
