The Straight Armlock Overview
Our goal in a fight is to get the mount because that is a great way to keep yourself safe while you exhaust and submit your opponent. When you get the mount, it is common for them to either reach for your throat or push you. This is a perfect time to use the straight armlock.
Principles of The Basic Armlock – Feet on the ground, heels tight and curled into him, hips close and knees pinching together. Hold the wrist with the thumb up, push and pull his wrist down to the floor as you raise your hips. Use a “high” and “hard” fulcrum to break his arm over your bottom hip. Arch the hips high to complete the lock. When doing the straight armlock remember this phrase:
“BUTT CLOSE, THUMB UP, DON’T LET IT SLIP! BREAK HIS ARM OVER THE BOTTOM HIP.”
Practice - 10 sec escape attempts (Let BG push the knees, sit up, pull the elbow out, etc. Hold him.
