Basic Jiu Jitsu Curriculum – Lesson 10a – The Double Leg Against Agressive Opponent

The Blast Double Against an Aggressive BG

An aggressive opponent is the easiest to clinch or takedown. The “blast double” is a basic bread & butter technique whose value is limitless. If you drill this technique and get it down with timing and explosiveness, you will have one of the most powerful takedown moves there is in your arsenal.

Blast Double:

  1. 1
As BG comes in to punch, LOWER YOUR LEVEL (by bending your knees to get ready to hit with force - aka "loading up").
  2. 2
BIG PENETRATION STEP - Take a big penetration step between your op's feet (look for "three feet in a row").
  3. 3
HIT THEM IN THE STOMACH WITH YOUR SHOULDER and keep your head up as you hit.
  4. 4
GRIP THE LEGS, grip the back of both of your opponent’s knees with your hand,
  5. 5
DRIVE HIM DOWN by driving your knee to the floor. As you do this, pull the back of your opponent’s knees to “buckle” his body.
