Armlock From The Mount – Side Variation – BG turns sideways to protect his face.
- 1Slide to a modified mount (First put your weight on your hands, step, and slide the knee behind his head together - just like when you take the back). If he goes to his knees, take the back. If he stays there, armlock.
- 2Take the arm – wrap the arm, pin the head, walk the other foot towards his head and drop that knee towards his hip, put weight on his dome, and a little weight is on his rib cage, lean south and swing the leg.
Jiu Jitsu Drill: Trap and roll escape (all variations), get the mount, attack with a straight armlock (both variations).
REMEMBER: The best strategy to beat a bigger and stronger attacker is to take them down and make them exhaust their energy.
This means you need a good controlling position that you can stay calm in while they panic. The mount is perfect for this. You MUST get good and getting and maintaining the mount. Once there you are safe and you have options. It is always best practice to let your opponent exhaust their energy before taking a submission so they have less chance of escaping.
