Maintain Side Control
Getting the mount is the goal, but prior to that you can control and wear him out with the side mount. The concern here is the BG wants to either bridge and throw you off north or roll you over his body.
Bridge and Roll Prevention:
- 1Side Control Position: Hug his neck, shoulder in the face, and other hand goes under his arm. Stay low and keep your control solid. Distribute your weight in the middle to be as heavy as possible.
- 2If he bridges you north, your leg posts and drives your weight back onto him (He may initiate this by hugging your body or by placing his elbow by your ribs).
- 3If he hugs and tries to roll you over him, bottom hand posts out on the floor. So foot post prevents the north bridge and hand post prevents the over the body roll.
- 4(Note: To induce a little panic and exhaust the BG’s energy faster from side control you can use the side headbutt here.) If BG walks one direction, walk with him, and vice versa, keeping the same perpendicular angle.
