What is positive self-image?

Positive self-image is seeing yourself as a winner. Your self-image is the kind of person you think you are. It is the way you see yourself.


If you consistently see yourself as being successful and a winner, then you have a positive self-image. The opposite is true too.


Winners in life always have a positive self-image. They take control over their self-image and see themselves as being a successful kind of person.


Why is positive self-image important?

There is a direct relationship between your self-image and your performance in any area of your life.


Why? People always act in ways that are consistent with their self-image. Everything they do is based on their idea of the kind of person they think they are.  


It is very difficult to do things that go against your self-image. If you can’t see yourself doing something or achieving something, you will not do it. 


If you have a low self-image you will act like that kind of person. If you see yourself as a winner you will act like a person who succeeds.


Your self-image cannot be escaped, but it can be CHANGED. To make any big, long-lasting change in your life, you need to change your self-image.


The power of your imagination can change your self-image. Winners imagine themselves being the kind of person they want to become.


Action Item: Do these things to be build a positive self-image

 

  1. Use positive self-talk in the morning and before bed. Say “I am a _____”

  2. Imagine yourself as if you already were the kind of person you want to be

  3. Look at others who are where you want to be and imagine you are already like them
