The Psychology of Winning: Ten Qualities Of A Total Winner
Study Guide Chapter 3:
“Positive Self-Control”
What is positive self-control?
Positive self-control is accepting 100% responsibility for causing the effects in your life.
Positive self-control means going out and making things happen, not waiting around for chance or someone else to do it for you.
Taking control of ourselves means taking the responsibility for making the best use of what we have.
Winners get behind the steering wheel of their own life and guide it in the direction they want to go. By taking control of their thoughts, daily routines, and goals, winners create their own future and live life to the fullest.
Why is positive self-control important?
People who take control over what happens to them in life are happier.
If you do not take control over your life other people and things will control it for you.
Remember: Low achievers let things happen – winners make things happen.
Winning individuals do not leave the development of their potential to chance.
The quickest way to end up in the Low Achievers Hall of Fame is to live life like a puppet, allowing chance events and other people to dictate your results for you.
Action Item: Take some time to look at your own life and find areas where you can take control for your own good.
