What is positive self-expectancy?
Positive self-expectancy is being optimistic. It is thinking that things are going to turn out well and having a POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE
Winners in life are people who expect to win. Losers are pessimistic. They have low expectations for how things will turn out.
Why is positive self-expectancy important? IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO HAVE A POSTIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE IN LIFE
Life is often a self-fulfilling prophecy. People generally get what they expect. If you don’t have optimism you will not be able to ever reach any valuable goal in life. Why?
Life can be hard. It is easy to get discouraged. If you always think “everything is going to be horrible” you won’t try hard things, or if you do, you will soon QUIT. And if you stop because something gets a little hard and you think “Oh I can’t do this” you become a QUITTER. And quitters are always losers.
But when you are optimistic you want to try new things and you tend to keep going and persevere because you are focusing on the good in things!
LOOKING AT THE GOOD IN THINGS AND THINKING THEY WILL TURN OUT WELL HELPS YOU FEEL HAPPIER IN THE PRESENT AND HELPS YOU ACHIEVE MORE IN LIFE
That’s why being OPTIMISTIC is the RIGHT THING TO DO
Action Item: Do these things to be more optimistic and develop positive self-expectancy
1. Use positive self-talk in the morning and before bed
2. Always look for the good in things (the glass is half full)
3. Look at problems as challenges and opportunities
4. Associate with optimists and avoid hanging around negative people
5. Take in positive motivating messages, books and audio programs every day.
