Tips For Setting the Choke Against Resistance:

Most untrained attackers have little understanding of the RNC and will expose their neck without a fight. However, due to the popularity of the UFC, the average person is better educated about fighting that they were twenty years ago and may be aware of what you are trying to do. For these reasons we need to have a few tactics for sinking the choke in against resistance.

    Punch the face, elbow strike the back of the head, or if BG is on his belly, an old Gracie favorite is to bounce their head against the ground. This opens the neck for a choke.

    Use the inside edge of the index finger knuckle under the BG’s nose, pull up to expose the neck.

    From a back mount, heel kick the groin area for distraction
  4. 4
    For friendlier encounters, pull the forehead with one or both hands or drive the thumb knuckle from behind the ear forward to get the wrist under his chin.
